Backing Up Your Files

One thing that many people don’t actually realize about big companies and corporations is that most of their computers are only designed to function at the most basic of levels.  Computers themselves can be a strain on any company’s finances, but at least it is something that for the most part should only be a one time fee with the company every now and then maybe having to pitch in to get a few extra computers for additional employees.  What would really become a financial hassle though is trying to keep all of those computers up to date, especially when you consider that many businesses are going to have to provide their employees with specialized and often times expensive software anyway for their job.

The most common ways for big companies to get around having to upgrade each individual computer is through the use of virtual software, which allows all of the employee computers to link up with one main host server.  The main host server is then upgraded and can provide all of the linked guest computers with the necessary software to perform whatever tasks are needed.  One of the nice things about virtual software is that it becomes so easy to customize and set limitations for each individual computer allowing you to tailor each employee’s computer to best suit their tasks and not have them put an unnecessary strain on the server.

Of course having everything running off of one server does carry the obvious risk of losing everything if something should happen to the server, and lets face it computers at the best of times can still be rather fickle with their performances.  There are any number of programs out there designed to stop the server from crashing, but even with those it will still happen once or twice, and there are some things like power failures that you just can’t account for which is why you need to have reliable VMware backup.  Having the right backup can be a life saver as otherwise your employees would be forced to redo all their work.  Not only that but because the backup program creates so many restoration points if you ever make a change that you end up regretting you can easily access the backup and revert back to older settings.  This is very nice to have when you’re installing new software too as sometimes it will cause issues with the systems.
